Pepsi unveils new look, first refresh in 14 years

The Pepsi logo is getting a refresh for the first time in 14 years, PepsiCo, the parent company of the soft drink brand, announced on Tuesday.

PepsiCo said the brand’s logo will change so that the Pepsi name will appear in the globe with a “modern, custom” font. The stripes in the circle have been changed and rotated, and the colors are also getting an update, according to the company’s press release.

Black and “electric blue” will be part of the color palette of Pepsi’s revamped logo and new visual identity. The black “further show[s] the brand’s commitment to Pepsi Zero Sugar going forward,” said PepsiCo.

Pepsi’s chief marketing officer, Todd Kaplan, shared photos of the new logo on Twitter.

“We couldn’t be more excited to usher in a new era for Pepsi as this exciting new and modern look will encourage brand differentiation to appear bigger and bolder and help people find new ways to unapologetically enjoy the things that they love,” Kaplan said. in the news report. “This new visual system brings out the best in the rich heritage of the Pepsi brand while taking a major step forward in making it successful in an increasingly digital world.”

Pepsi’s new visual identity design also includes a “new visually distinctive can silhouette” and the “signature Pepsi pulse.” The pulse, which emanates from the logo, refers in part to the “rhythm and energy” of music, according to the company.

The first consumers to experience the new logo and visual identity will be those in North America. They’re getting a fall launch for the brand’s 125th anniversary, while the rest of the world will see it next year, PepsiCo said.

The new designs “will span across all physical and digital touchpoints,” the company said, appearing on packaging, vans, clothing and other things.

PepsiCo said in its latest quarterly financial report that it saw a nearly 11% increase in net sales over the previous fourth quarter, from $25.25 billion to $28 billion. Net income was $518 million, down from the same three-month period in 2021.

In mid-January, the food and beverage giant said its Pepsi Zero Sugar recipe would undergo some tweaks to make it “fresher and bolder.”
